Where We Work: Tree Service Across Kent & Ottawa County
Twelve communities with their own pages, because the rules genuinely differ between them. East Grand Rapids runs the strictest street tree ordinance in the metro, Cascade is drafting a tree removal permit, Comstock Park has no city government at all, and Jenison is in a different county. Each page carries that community's own position rather than a generic paragraph with the name swapped.
| Community | County | Drive | What is different here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wyoming Tree Service | Kent County | 10 minutes from the shop | Names Wyoming's absence of a private-property tree ordinance (removal needs no city permit, unlike East Grand Rapids four miles away) and explains the 1950s-60s silver maple planting cohort as the reason for the local failure rate, with reduction and cabling priced against removal |
| Kentwood Tree Service | Kent County | 12 minutes from the shop | Publishes commercial contract cost bands by property type for Kentwood specifically, names the Planning Department number for tree questions, and explains the parking-lot island soil volume failure mode |
| Grandville Tree Service | Kent County | 13 minutes from the shop | Explains windthrow as a distinct failure mode of the Buck Creek and Grand River low ground, with the ground-level diagnostic (heaved soil at the root plate edge) and a species-by-failure table |
| Walker Tree Service | Kent County | 10 minutes from the shop | Splits the city by build era and prices young-tree structural pruning against the later cable, reduction and removal costs it prevents, plus the made-ground and buried-root-flare angle around the reclaimed Millennium Park corridor |
| East Grand Rapids Tree Service | Kent County | 8 minutes from the shop | Reproduces the actual East Grand Rapids Chapter 32 street tree regime, including that an abutting owner needs prior written permission of the Director and that removal of a healthy street tree goes to a City Commission subcommittee, as a jurisdiction table |
| Comstock Park Tree Service | Kent County | 12 minutes from the shop | Leads with the jurisdictional fact that Comstock Park is unincorporated across two townships with no city government, and that some right-of-way trees fall to the Kent County Road Commission, then covers sudden limb drop in cottonwood on the river flats |
| Jenison Tree Service | Ottawa County | 17 minutes from the shop | States that Jenison is unincorporated Georgetown Charter Township in Ottawa County with no city government, road right-of-way possibly under the Ottawa County Road Commission, and prices conifer screen row removal per tree in a run |
| Byron Center Tree Service | Kent County | 20 minutes from the shop | Uses the documented 30 March 2025 NWS-confirmed damage around 92nd and Kalamazoo as the anchor and explains the hedgerow-remnant failure mechanism specific to Byron Township's farmland-to-subdivision conversion, with prevention priced |
| Cascade Tree Service | Kent County | 15 minutes from the shop | Publishes the specific proposed Cascade Charter Township tree removal permit and the 25% annual removal threshold with its parcel-size trigger and proposed exemptions, flagged explicitly as a draft |
| Ada Tree Service | Kent County | 17 minutes from the shop | Explains Ada's actual regulatory mechanism (site plan and land division review plus mapped natural vegetation and transition zones along watercourses) instead of a blanket permit, and flags subdivision covenants as the more common real constraint |
| Hudsonville Tree Service | Ottawa County | 22 minutes from the shop | Prices windbreak row removal per tree in a run against single removal, explains the agricultural windbreak failure pattern and the seasonal access constraint on drained lowland soils |
| Rockford Tree Service | Kent County | 22 minutes from the shop | Publishes a hemlock woolly adelgid field identification for Rogue River corridor hemlock, which sits on the same regional invasive watch list as emerald ash borer and spongy moth, plus the ice-loading case for pre-winter white pine reduction |
Towns we cover without a page of their own
We also work Standale, Forest Hills, Caledonia, Allendale, Grand Rapids Township, Plainfield Township, Alpine Township, Georgetown Township, Gaines Township, Belmont, Marne, Coopersville and Middleville, without dedicated pages. If your town is not listed, call anyway. Anything inside about thirty-five minutes of the shop we will come and look at.
Not sure if we come to you?
A person calls you back the same day, or first thing the next morning if you reach us after six. Storm calls get picked up whenever they come in.
Prefer to talk? Ring (616) 297-2972. Photographs help more than descriptions, and one that shows the gate or the side of the house is worth three of the tree.
